About the event
This workshop presents findings from a research study that examines the specific strategies Black
psychologists use to promote anti-racist assessment with Black clients. The practices of Black psychologists
are uniquely important to consider when aiming for greater cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly
because their own experiences of racism and shared racial identities with Black clients helps inform their
perspectives on equitable, culturally competent assessment practice. The strategies offered contribute
to increased multicultural competence among the participants and improved psychological services to the
